BEEFEATER 24 RED GALLERY
For the launch of Beefeater 24 Gin's red bottle, local Miami artists were asked to submit artwork for their Red Gallery event during Art Basel week.
The ask was to submit two images that would then be combined and overlapped, creating a piece that requires looking "beyond the surface."
THE ORIGINAL PIECES
Original photograph of Palacio de los Jugos: an outdoor market in Miami known for it's authentic Cuban food and natural fruit juices.
This extravagant mermaid represents herself as Queen of the Pescados y Mariscos (Fish and Seafood).
THE FINAL WORK
The photograph and illustration were overlapped and color corrected. Red glasses were provided for the viewers so they could look at the artwork through a different lens, this time getting a better view of what's "beneath the surface."
Palacio de los Mares
A teaspoon of caviar for a special occasion, a fried fish fillet sandwich at the drive-thru, a dozen oysters during happy hour - what ends up on our plate is only scraping the mere surface of what’s left to explore in our vast oceans. Mysterious and magical, the ocean lies mostly undiscovered, leading us to depend on our imagination until we unearth more.
